Mission

Company Mission

Improving the world of work, one shift at a time.

Problem They Solve

Managing hourly workers comes with many challenges—it takes time, can get complicated quickly, and carries the risk of compliance issues. Traditional scheduling methods are inefficient and don't give employees the flexibility they need. Two-thirds of the world's workforce are shift workers, yet only 1% of tech investment goes into tools that support them.

Who their customers are

Deputy primarily serves shift-based businesses across 245+ industries, including retail, hospitality, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and professional services. Over 375,000 workplaces and 1.5 million shift workers use Deputy globally. Customers include Ace Hardware, Everlane, Five Guys, LaserAway, Trek Bikes, Gymshark, Deliveroo, Jaguar Land Rover, and IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Leadership

Led by CEO Silvija Martincevic, an experienced technology executive with over 20 years of global leadership experience. Before Deputy, she served as Chief Commercial Officer at Affirm, where she scaled the merchant network from 5,000 to over 200,000 retailers and grew revenue to over $1 billion. Prior to that, she led Groupon's international operations across Europe, Asia, and Australia. Raised by shift workers herself—her mother worked in a factory, and her father was a truck driver—Silvija brings a real understanding of the challenges facing the shift work community. Ashik Ahmed, one of the co-founders, came up with the idea for Deputy after working shifts at Hungry Jack’s as a teenager. Today, he sits on the Board of Directors.
