Senior Data Scientist - GPTN Region
About the role
💼 What you will do
• Be the first dedicated analytics voice for the GPTN region (Germany, Poland, Turkey, Netherlands) shaping how Canva understands users and measures what matters. • Build a data-informed growth strategy connecting local markets with global product teams. • Craft clear, actionable narratives using data turning complex insights into simple stories that inspire action. • Proactively surface growth bottlenecks, user behavior shifts, or product mismatches in the region to stay one step ahead. • Design and build dashboards from scratch bringing visibility to important GPTN metrics across user growth, retention, monetization, and campaign performance. • Define how Canva tracks success across the region by setting clear and relevant targets tailored to local market nuance. • Act as bridge between GPTN teams (marketing, country managers, community) and global product and data functions. • Work closely with product teams to design and measure new feature performance, local experiments, and A/B tests in the markets. • Build from scratch partnering closely with teams across marketing, product, and community.
📋 Job Requirements
• Several years of experience in data analytics, growth, or product analytics roles. • Strong SQL and Python data wrangling skills able to work independently with large, messy datasets. • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams (marketing, product, growth, ops) and using data to influence decisions. • Strong communication and storytelling skills making data land, not just show up. • Strategic thinker who can zoom out and prioritize what really moves the needle. • Proven experience building dashboards and tracking frameworks from the ground up. • Ability to define and track key metrics across the user journey including signups, MAU, retention, and monetization. • Bias to action comfortable in ambiguity and take ownership without waiting for a brief. • Prior exposure to experimentation and A/B testing frameworks. • Familiarity with Canva's data stack including Looker, Snowflake, Mode, and Netspring.

• Experience working in or analyzing European markets. • Understanding of mobile analytics and behavioral funnels. • Experience supporting product teams or market localization initiatives. • Passion for Canva's mission and natural curiosity for how people use technology across cultures. • Experience with GPTN region markets (Germany, Poland, Turkey, Netherlands). • Background in building regional data strategies from scratch.
🎯 Responsibilities
• Tell the story behind the numbers crafting actionable narratives for product teams, regional leadership, and the company. • Identify problems before they're obvious by surfacing growth bottlenecks and user behavior shifts. • Build data foundation for GPTN designing dashboards for most important regional metrics. • Own GPTN data strategy end-to-end building frameworks and KPIs that help measure impact and make better decisions. • Partner with local, regional, and central teams ensuring two-way flow of local and global insights. • Support product and experimentation initiatives working with teams to measure new features and A/B tests. • Define and track success metrics tailored to local market nuances across the region.
